Laser engraved trophy label made of TroLase Foil

Learn how you can make an individual trophy sticker with a Speedy flexx and TroLase foil.

Preparation

Required material
Machine used
  • Speedy 360 flexx, 80/30 Watt
  • 2.85" lens
  • Vacuum table and honeycomb cutting table

You can produce this sample with any machine of the Speedy family (no fiber laser required).

Tips

We engraved this sample with the fiber laser, because the design is extremely intricate. Due to the smaller spot size of the fiber laser, we achieve better results. This works only on metallic TroLase foils (silver matt, silver brushed, gold, copper).

With the CO2 laser you can process all TroLase foil materials.

Step 1: Import design

Make your own design or import our template. Adapt it to the size of your trophy if necessary. Then send the job to the laser using the driver settings below:

Process mode Resolution Cut line Halftone Others
Standard 1000 dpi None Color -

Info: When engraving with the fiber laser, always use 1000 dpi resolution. It works best in combination with the small spot size of the fiber laser.

Step 2: Laser process label

Put the TroLase foil into your laser and focus on the material. Then make the parameter settings. Our settings can vary depending on laser machine and laser power available.

Laser Parameters Engraving:

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Black Engrave FLP 20 55 30,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 on 0mm -

Laser Parameters Scratching:

Color Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Red Cut CO2 8 1 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On 4 mm -

Laser Parameters Kiss-cut:

Color   Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Blue Cut CO2 9 1 1,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On - -

Laser Parameters Cutting:

Color Process: Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Green Cut CO2 40 2 1,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On - -

Info:

The advantage of the fiber laser is the smaller spot size. Therefore less heat is applied on the material. The foil remains flat and does not bend.

Step 3: Cleaning

Clean the label with a damp cloth. This works best inside the engraving cabinet with activated exhaust.

Preparation

You Will Need
  • Any choice of 1/4 sheet TroLase Lights
  • Spare material to cover the engraving table

You can use any material you'd like from the TroLase Lights range.

Machine Used
  • Speedy 360 flexx, 80/30w
  • 2.85" lens
  • Vacuum table & honeycomb cutting table

Keep in mind that you can produce this sample using any machine from the Trotec Speedy series, and it doesn't necessarily need to be a flexx machine.

Tips

We decided to engrave this with a fiber laser due to the intricacy of the design. Due to the fiber laser's tiny spot size, we found this helped to achieve better results. However, fiber will only work on ‘metallic’ Trotec materials.

When you use the CO2 laser it might be harder to achieve the sharpest, finest details, but you will be able to process any TroLase Light you'd like.

Step 1: Import the Design

Have a go at creating your very own design, or you can feel free to import the template we have provided. Then, adapt it to the size of your trophy and send it to the laser machine using the following driver settings:

Process Mode Resolution Cut Line Halftone Others
Standard 1000dpi None Colour -

Remember: When engraving with a fiber laser, always use 1000dpi for your resolution. It will work better when combined with the small spot size of the fiber laser.

Step 2: Laser Process - Label

Place your chosen TroLase Lights into your laser engraving machine and focus on the material. Then, it's time to create the parameter settings. Please note that the settings we have provided may vary depending on which Trotec machine you are using and its available laser power.

Laser Parameters - Engraving:

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Black Engrave FLP 20 55 30,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced

Laser Parameters - Scratching:

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Red Cut CO2 8 1 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 ON 4mm -

Laser Parameters - Kiss-Cut:

Colour   Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Blue Cut CO2 9 1 1,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 ON - -

Laser Parameters - Cutting:

Colour Process: Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Green Cut CO2 40 2 1,000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 ON - -

Info:

The best thing about the fiber laser here is the significantly smaller spot size. This means that less heat is being applied to the material, so the material should remain flat and not warp.

Step 3: Cleaning

Now, you just need to give the label a quick clean with a damp cloth. This works best if you leave the material inside the engraving machine with the exhaust activated.
