Vintage Inspired 'Ice Cream' Sign

This sign may have been inspired by customers from the 1950s, but you can bring it back with a modern twist using TroGlass acrylic or anodized aluminum.


Preparation

Used material:

  • Aluminum anodized Nickel Silver matt 1,5mm, cut to 600x420mm with 4 rounded corners r=12mm
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass Satins Light Pink with adhesive
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass Satins Red with adhesive
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass ColorGloss White with adhesive
  • 1/4 sheet TroLase Pink/White 1,6mm with adhesive
  • 1 sheet Wood Veneer Bamboo with adhesive

Machine used:

  • Speedy 360
  • 80 watts
  • 2" lens
  • white acrylic cutting grid for TroGlass and TroLase
  • Aluminum Cutting Grid Table or Honeycomb for wood

Step by Step

Step 1: Import graphic file

You can download the template and customise it to suit. Print the individual files for each material to the laser using the JobControl settings below.

Step 2: Laser process acrylic

Please adjust the laser parameters depending on the type of laser machine and available laser power.

Tipp: Change the color order in the material database so that the blue fold line is cut before the red cut line.

Simply download the template and customise it to your needs. Print the artwork to the laser using the suggested settings below.

Import our template and adapt it to your requirements. Send the job to the laser using the driver settings below.

Step 7: Assembly

Remove the protective film from the anondised aluminium, and start by gluing the pink and red acrylic pieces to the top and bottom edge of the aluminium sheet. Next, add the wood then place the TroLase, and on top place the TroGlass pieces above the cone. The final step is to glue the "Ice Cream" lettering to the marked places on the pink acrylic. Congratulations! You've made your own vintage 'Ice Cream' sign.
