Weekly Planner

Step By Step Instructions

Are you the kind of person who likes to plan your weeks in advance? Well, look no further! Our slate weekly planner is perfect for you!

Preparation

You Will Need:

Machine Used:

  • Speedy 100
  • 40 Watt
  • 2" lens
  • Honeycomb cutting table for wood cutting

You can use any machine from the Speedy series to create this sample.

Important:

Be sure to use the extra strong adhesive for the TroLase ADA Signage to ensure that the slate board remains securely fixed.

Step by Step

Step 1: Slate Board

Create your own design for the weekly planner, or feel free to import our template. Then, adapt the graphic to the size of the slate board if you need to.

Now, send the job to the laser machine using the following driver settings:

Print Settings:

Process Mode Resolution Cut Line
Standard 500 dpi None
Halftone Others
Colour  -

Step 2: Laser Process (Slate):

Create the material parameter settings. These parameters can vary depending on the laser machine you are using and its available power.

Tip:

We suggest testing the parameters on the back of the slate board before you decide to begin the project. This way, you can make any alterations before possibly ruining your board.

Laser Parameters

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Engraving: Black Engrave CO2 60 100 500
Scratching: Red Cut CO2 20 2 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On - Optimised Quality
1 On +6mm -

Step 3: Wooden Frame

Create your design or import our provided template. Adapt the graphic to the size of the slate sheets if you need to.

Now, send the job to your laser machine using the following driver settings:

Print Settings:

Process Mode Resolution Cut Line
Standard 500 dpi None
Halftone Others
Colour Optimised Geometries, Inner Geometries First

Tip:

Before you begin cutting, be sure to measure the thickness of the wooden sheet. Adapt the kerf is you need to. Finally, ensure that the slate sheet fits inside the wooden frame.

Step 4: Laser Process (Wooden Frame)

Now you need to determine and enter the material's parameter settings. Please note that these parameters may vary depending on the laser machine you are using and its available power.

Laser Parameters - Cutting

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Red Cut CO2 95 0.3 1000

Info:

We decided to use the standard parameters in JobControl for solid wood oak.

Step 5: Back

Create your own design or feel free to import the template that we have provided.

Now, send the job to your laser machine using the following driver settings:

Print Settings:

Process Mode Resolution Cut Line
Standard 500 dpi None
Halftone Others
Colour Optimised Geometries, Inner Geometries First

Step 6: Laser Process (Back)

Determine and enter the material's parameter settings. Please note that these parameters can vary depending on the laser machine you are using as well as the available power.

Laser Parameters

Colour Process Power (%) Speed (%) ppi/Hz
Red Cut CO2 90 2 1000
Passes Air Assist Z-Offset Advanced
1 On - -

Info:

We decided to use the standard parameters in JobControl for TroLase ADA Signage, optimised for quality.

Step 7: Assembly

Place the slate board inside your wooden frame. Note that this step is vital! This is because the wooden frame needs to accommodate for the size of the slate. This will, in turn, prevent the wood from becoming warped or distorted later.

Next, glue the back of the TroLase ADA Signage to the wood and slate. You'll be pleased to know that this process doesn't need to be 100% perfect! Our design leaves a fair amount of 'wiggle room' for positioning the back plate. You just need to attach it as best as you can.

Finally, place the signage mounts on the back of the board. Your weekly planner is now ready for all your organisation!

Inspiration

You can now personalise the weekly planner for your customers, or even your own desires! Have a play with different dimensions, shapes and designs. The sky is your only limit!

If you'd like, you can even use a cord to fix the planner to the wall instead of the signage mounting devices. If you decide to do this, leave out the two holes on the bottom of the frame.
