Step-By-Step Instructions
Create beautiful lucky charms out of small, simple stones!
Small, plain marble stones (we used a marble mosaic tile)
You can use any laser machine from the Speedy series for this project.
We recommend using the 1.5" lens for engraving fine details (including designs like ours).
Create your own design, or feel free to import our template. Then, send the job to your laser machine using the following driver settings:
Process Mode | Resolution | Cut Line |
---|---|---|
Standard | 1000 dpi | None |
Halftone | Others |
---|---|
Colour | - |
Because of the detailed graphics, we decided to use the highest possible resolution (1000 dpi) for our engraving job. This made it possible to achieve the best possible quality.
First, you'll need to wash the natural dust off the stone. You can do this by holding the stone under running water. Once you've dried it, place it inside your Trotec laser machine and focus on its surface. If your stone is rounded, focus on the average value of the engraving area. Now, enter the material parameter settings. These settings can vary depending on the laser machine you are using and its available power.
Colour | Process | Power (%) | Speed (%) | ppi/Hz |
---|---|---|---|---|
Black | Engrave CO2 | 50 | 20 | 1000 |
Passes | Air Assist | Z-Offset | Advanced |
---|---|---|---|
1 | On | - 0.5 mm | - |
We decided to use a negative offset value. Therefore, the surface is exposed to an increased amount of laser power, and the engraving will appear much more contrasted.
Give your stone a quick wipe with a damp cloth. Be careful not to place the stone under running water this time - this might wash away the engraving dust that creates the beautiful, stark contrast you can see.
You can engrave anything you want onto stones - quotes, slogans, pictures and much more! The sky is your only limit with laser technology!
You can even personalise the stones with names and dates, adding extra, personal value to your products.
