Step by Step Tutorial
In this tutorial, you will learn how to create stunning coloured annealing on stainless steel using a Trotec MOPA laser machine.
1x Stainless Steel Keyring
For this project, you can use any machine from the SpeedMarker series. You can also use the Speedy fiber or Speedy flexx laser machines.
Depending on what alloy you're using, your results may differ from ours slightly.
To achieve different colours, the pulse width needs to be changed. Therefore, you will only achieve black markings when you use a standard fiber laser (from the SpeedMarker series or a Speedy fiber/flexx machine)
Firstly, import our template; Or have a go at creating an original design. Import the PDF with layers into the SpeedMark software and assign these parameters and fillings to the object.
Define your parameters in advance:
Filling For | Fill Style | Line Distance [mm] | Additional |
---|---|---|---|
Text | Cross Lines (Bidirectional) | 0.003 | - |
Letters | Bidirectional | 0.03 | - |
Lines | Bidirectional | 0.001 | - |
Dots | Bidirectional | 0.001 | Optimise Filling |
Wind Rose | Bidirectional | 0.001 | Optimise Filling |
Border | None | - | - |
Now, enter the parameter settings. Remember, these can differ depending on what laser machine you are using as well as its available laser power.
Position your workpiece using border marking - this will help with accuracy!
Laser Parameter | Process | Power [%] | Frequency [kHz] |
---|---|---|---|
Text | Marking | 50 | 150 |
Letters | Marking | 60 | 60 |
Lines | Marking | 60 | 189 |
Dots | Marking | 84 | 261 |
Wind Rose | Marking | 54 | 260 |
