Have a go at producing individual jewellery displays with various acrylic sheets.


Preparation

You Will Need:

  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass Clear 8mm
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass Clear 5mm
  • 1/4 sheet TroGlass Satins Orange translucent with double-sided adhesive foil on both sides

Materials available here

Machine Used:

  • Speedy 400
  • 120 Watt
  • 2.5" lens
  • Acrylic lamella or vacuum table with acrylic grid or distance holders

This sample can be made on any machine from the Speedy or SP series. To cut the 8mm acrylic required for this task, you will need to use a machine with a laser power of 80 Watts or more. 

Important:

  • Ensure that you have removed the protection foil from the acrylic before you start laser processing.
  • Cover the open working area for a better vacuum effect.

Tips:

For a high-quality result, cut the shape first and engrave your design second.

Step 7: Post-processing and assembly

To assemble the display, you first need to glue the coloured acrylic onto the 5mm clear acrylic. Ensure that the pieces are positioned exactly above one another. Now, position the 8mm acrylic part, with the engraving inside, onto the coloured parts. Doing this will mean that the engraving will be protected.
