Laser Cutting Plastics

Trotec lasers are widely used for cutting acrylic material, but can also process other plastics such as polycarbonate, polypropylene and polyethylene.

Material not exceeding 1mm in thickness provides the best results.  Combining the laser cutting system with one of the Trotec exhaust systems, enhances processing and manages the dust caused by the cutting process.  This allows laser processing to be very environmentally friendly.

Laser Cutting Plastics

As compared to traditional techniques, the laser cutting offers the following benefits:

  • Fast cutting speed
  • Flexibility due to the non-contact nature of lasers
  • Minimized or no tooling
  • Seal edges in the cut
  • Nesting software to minimize waste
  • Cost effective, even in small production runs

Trotec will be happy to conduct a feasibility test, FREE OF CHARGE, to aid in your decision to purchase.
