- Laser technology for model-making

  • Logo Holzhammer

    Projektdesign Holzhammer

Projektdesign Holzhammer from the Austrian state of Tirol produces a variety of items for model railways: display cases, boxes or cabinets for presentation purposes or to lay out model sets. Whether private model-maker, collector or dealer, the individual tastes of the customer are optimally catered for. The parts can be delivered at any stage of construction according to request. From individual modules to complete kits. The customer’s imagination is given free rein.

Up until now, the models have been hand-finished or cut using CNC machines. However, Projektdesign Holzhammer has also recently acquired a Speedy 100R laser engraver.

    The application

It is important to the model-maker that his models resemble their “role models” far as possible. The Rayjet processes materials such as plywood, veneers, paper, cardboard and Perspex. It is also possible to successfully process plaster with a laser. Plaster wall panels cast in house are thereby cut and engraved with brickwork patterns. This produces a very realistic effect.

    The Trotec solution

The Speedy 100R CO2 flatbed laser produces excellent results with all materials such as wood, veneers, paper, cardboard and plaster. It is possible to cut, mark and engrave items of many different sizes on its 610 x 305 mm machining area. The computer-to-plate production process and Trotec JobControl software mean making small changes is quick and cost effective.

“I’ve always been fascinated by laser technology. But the high purchase price has put me off. With the Speedy 100R I’ve found a product which combines price and performance. That’s why I made the leap and bought a laser."

    Georg Holzhammer
