Clean Optics: just two easy steps

Clean optics are a basic requirement for perfect cutting and engraving results. The engraving of certain materials like wood or rubber stamp cause more dust than processing other materials. Depending on the application, you should clean the optics at regular intervals. This maintains the lifetime of your laser and ensures consistent high engraving quality.

  • Flush lenses

    How to do that?

Keeping the optics in perfect condition is really easy. A daily quick check of the lens and the mirror at the working head should be part of your daily laser routine. The mirrors in the side panel should be checked once a month. Depending on the material you use you might have to shorten your intervals. Thank to Trotec's InPack TechnologyTM lenses and mirrors are perfectly protected from dust. This reduces cleaning dramatically.
  • Cover liquid

Step 1 – Blow away loose particles (dust, lint)

An air bulb helps you to blow away loose particles. Alternatively, you may use the compressed air of your laser machine. If the optic still shows contamination  after blowing away the dust, go on with Step 2.

  • soak paper

Step 2 – Cleaning with cleaning liquid and cleaning tissues

Carefully remove the optic from the laser machine. Flush the optic with cleaning liquid and put the optic on a cleaning tissue. Put some cleaning liquid on the surface of the optics and leave the liquid for 1 min to take effect.
Next, soak a cleaning tissue with cleaning liquid and wipe the surface off. If the optic is still contaminated, just repeat the cleaning process. That’s it!

  • Cleaning lens

Optics are more sensitive than glass

It is important to handle the optics very carefully. Never use tools of any kind to handle the optics because they could scratch the optics. Please use the cleaning liquid and cleaning tissues that are provided in the accessories box of you laser. Only use the provided cleaning tissues or high quality paper-bodied 100% cotton swabs together with the provided cleaning liquid.
